A Notebook Solution.....?

I'm back!  Well not really...maybe, I don't know.  But for all you previous email subscribers who have received a mysterious email and are thinking "whoa, where'd she come from" it's really me, but don't get your hopes up.   Looking back at my not so little anymore goobers have been fun,  AND this little ham is the result of the monster belly you see in the last post.
These little munchkins aren't so little anymore either!

I'm actually here looking for a solution.  I have notebooks, LOTS of notebooks.  Notebooks full of lists, stories, plans, prayers, full notebooks and notebooks waiting to be filled.  They're on the counters, in my purses, the car, in drawers and stacked in the closet.  They look like this....

Just these, they're the ones I like.  So much so that when I told Luke to pick me up some gold polka dot notebooks at Target he needed no further explanation and knew just what I meant.  He grabbed me one of each color (see how well he knows me!).  Anyway, as we move through life I jot down stories, things the kids say, and other tidbits I want to save for my documenting projects.  Each year I "complete" a One Little Word album, Project Life Album, Week in the Life Album, and December Daily album.  Often the tidbits get written down and then lost in the land of the notebooks never to be seen again.  So I was thinking....I wish there was a place where I could keep all of our stories together, but I want to be able to access it anywhere, and I want it to be organized so I don't have to flip through endless pages of random grocery, shopping, and to-do lists to find them.  Hey, wait a minute...that sounds an awful lot like I'm describing a blog.  Oh yeah, a blog, I have one of those.

So, this blog started as a way of sharing our photos and stories with family.  Perhaps that will still happen, but I'm really looking for a way to document stories, the things I'll forget before putting them in their respective albums.  I'm thinking it will be more of a place of random ramblings vs a cohesive story of our lives, and definitely don't expect and regular schedule of posting!  The problem with the blog is I'm a writer, not a typer.  I was the kid who had to write out a report on paper before typing it.  I think better with a pen than a keyboard.  But, I'm giving it a shot, maybe it will stick, and maybe I'll be back in 2 years with another post about how much the kids have grown....we'll see.

If you're still with me here they are in all their Halloween glory.

Cora was a pink power ranger.  The girl loves pink, lip gloss, makeup, and sparkles but that's about the extent to her girly side.  Ask her to put on a tutu, princess dress, or otherwise frilly items and she's underwhelmed.  She wants action, sure a princess dress is pretty, but a pink costume that turns you into a spinning, battle fighting, ninjaesque (what exactly is a power ranger?) warrior...that's more her style right now.  She actually went for the Merida (from Brave) costume first since it was hanging next to a bow and arrow accessory.  I explained that she could be Merida, but we weren't getting the bow and arrow because she needed her hands to carry her candy.  Her response..."oh, well then I don't want to be her!", and the power ranger costume was snatched up.
I found a witch costume for Sylvie and tried it on her in the store.  When she refused to take it back off I knew it was the one.  Yes, I was left handing the cashier the tag, hanging my head in shame as the mom who can't get her kid to take of a costume.  It was either that or risk tearing the mesh sleeves while I ripped it off a screaming fighting toddler and then purchasing a torn costume.  I opted for choice A, judge away...pick your battles people!
And then there's Beau.  He actually chose a Ninja Turtle costume and wore that to his school festivities.  However, when trick or treat time rolled around he opted for last years black ninja costume.  He and one of his daycare buddies had grand plans of being ninjas, sneaking around in the dark, and hiding to "trick" people when they answered the door.  None of that actually happened, but who am I to squash the Halloween dreams of a 7 year old.
And it's there that I'll leave you.  5:45am on a Sunday and the kids are coming alive.  Gotta love the time change.  Whoever decided it means you get an extra hour of sleep obviously does not have children living in their household!
