WITL Day 6 - Saturday

My alarm goes off at the same time every day, my routine remains the same and I hit the snooze until about 5 when I get up for coffee.  On Saturday's it's coffee and quiet time before I run, which makes rolling out of bed a little easier.  I feed Georgia and she starts her in and out routine until I remove the bell from the door.

The kids get up one at a time, generally they come downstairs groggy eyed and wrapped in a blanket.  Cora is first up, right at 6:30.  She sees my camera on the couch and spends some time playing around with it.  Sylvie makes an appearance next, and Beau isn't far behind her.  It's rare that anyone sleeps past 7 on the weekends.

Luke and Georgia both decide to join me on my run today.  I get changed, stretch, and put my headphones in.  When I say I put my headphones in I mean I get them positioned comfortably under my headband, turn on my music so it's all ready when I put my phone in my armband and I don't have to try to manipulate it through the plastic sleeve.  It's a process, but well worth it because I hate having to mess with anything once I start running.  Inevitably there will always be a small child who needs to tell me something very important right now before I leave.  Today is no exception as Sylvie is standing outside the bathroom door when I open it.  She begins dramatically mouthing "MOM, MOM".  When I ask "what?" she does the usual and motions for me to remove my headphones so I can hear her.  I do (sigh).  At which point I get the same question she asks 99.9% of the time "can you hear me?".  It's always that or "can I have gum?".

The girls turn the Disney channel and we leave about 7.  Normally we would find Beau on the computer in the kitchen, however I put it away for the remainder of the school year.  It's supposed to be a homework only computer, and was becoming the source of too many before and after school non homework distractions.  Fear not, he still found a screen.  I find him on his school iPad in his room and tell him we're leaving as I walk by.

It's nice now that Beau is old enough to stay home for brief periods of time with the girls.  I love running when there are no time commitments to get back for.  We do a 4 1/2 mile loop.

After we get home and cool off I have my usual peanut butter English muffin and banana breakfast.  My weekend breakfasts don't vary either.  The kids also have breakfast.  Beau is getting good at cooking eggs.  He will make fried eggs for sandwiches, but today he sticks with scrambled and cooks and eats FIVE eggs.  The girls are not egg fans and opt for an English Muffin and yogurt.  I have to tell them both to get spoons for their yogurt.  For some reason they seem to think you eat yogurt by squeezing it out of the container into your mouth.

As we're finishing up breakfast one of my daycare families drop off a daycare appreciation/Mother's Day gift.  A pair of running sunglasses and bottle of wine I've been wanting to try.  Feeling very grateful, and spoiled this year!

I decided that I wanted to use our free Saturday to paint the kitchen.  A task that has been put off for well over a year.  I head out to the workshop to check for paint and supplies.  Luckily we have everything I need, so I get changed and jump right in to painting.  Steve and Jill arrive shortly after I start to take the kids to Niagra Cave.

I finish the first coat around 1pm and break for a ham and cheese sandwich.  Getting started with that second coat of trim work is always the hardest part for me.  The kids get home about 2, and Beau leaves again around 3 for his birthday party.

Georgia and I spend pretty much all day was spent in the kitchen.  The girls kept me company as they played and watched the Disney channel in the living room while I finished the last half hour or so.  I finally finish around 4 and shower.

In addition to painting I had returns that needed to go back to Old Navy, a Target list, and want to get flowers for my porch.  I left at 5, leaving Luke instructions for supper.  I opt to just get my returns done so I could be home in time to eat with the rest of the family. I was home by 6:00 to eat tortilla lime crusted fish on salad with salsa, a combo that turned out to be a huge hit....at least for Luke and I.  The kids ate it and said it "wasn't too bad" which is pretty much a win around here lately.  I finish supper off with a glass of Apothic Brew.  A new red wine made with cold brew coffee.  Also a new favorite.

The kids want a movie night, and decide on one of the Indiana Jones movies.  Well, Beau decides and the girls reluctantly agree.  I love movie night, but I can never sit and just watch a movie, so I opt to also read my book, and exchange a few text messages with my sister.  Sylvie falls asleep shortly after the movie starts.  After the movie, the kids head up to bed around 8:45.  Luke carries Sylvie.  I also get ready for bed, and read until 9:45 or so.
