S-O-L-D!!

Aren't those 4 little red letters beautiful?  Exactly 4 weeks after putting our house on the market we received word that negotiations had been agreed upon and our house was SOLD!  I was standing in our entryway with one of my daycare families as they were getting ready to leave.  We saw the realtor pull up and open the trunk, we all froze, stood and stared.  When that sold sign came out I may have started jumping and screaming like a giddy 5 year old.

We won't be moving for another couple of weeks, and most of our things are already in storage from when we  pared down to the bare necessities to put our house on the market.  While there is so much to do between now and the end of March, I have this odd sense of feeling like we are in a state of downtime.  We can't start moving anything out of storage until we close, and it's too early to start packing up the things in our house that we're still using regularly.  I have also come to realize as I've begun boxing things up, that we have a love of baskets and bins.  Almost everything that is still in our house is already in a basket or bin of some sort.  I guess that's the perk of having a lack of closet space to hide things away.  Once we close on our new home we will have the weekend (as in Friday, Saturday, Sunday) to get the majority of our things moved and ready for a licensing inspection so that I can reopen daycare at our new location.  This may seem a bit crazy ambitious but we're always up for a challenge.  Did I mention that weekend also happens to be Easter weekend?

Having most of our things packed away hasn't bothered me a bit, although I do miss having photos around, I think I could embrace the minimalist lifestyle.  It has been a bit more difficult for the kids.  Beau has used it as an excuse for why he is "bored".  Now I say excuse because when I ask him what exactly he is missing he can't seem to pinpoint anything specific.  For him "bored" is more about not having anyONE to play with vs. anyTHING to play with (sisters don't count).  This is something that makes me nervous as we get closer to our move date, which also means leaving neighborhood buddies behind.

Cora on the other hand misses her things.  She loves having LOTS of things around.  She can spend hours in her room arranging and rearranging, creating, and plastering her walls with said creations.

Sylvie falls somewhere in between, she doesn't seem to mind having fewer things, but there have been a few occasions where she's requested a specific toy and had a minor meltdown when I tell her it's packed away.  Most recently her magnet toy and the scissors (ok I may have lied about the scissors being packed, but seriously Mommy needs a break from all the tiny paper fitzens all over the house.  I remember fondly the days when she hadn't yet mastered the scissors.)

In other news, the girls received Disney on Ice tickets for their birthdays, so we recently got to have a mini Disney adventure! (I'd be lying if I said it didn't get me dreaming of another trip to "Minnie's House" ;).  I loved seeing Sylvie wave to the characters from her seat and Cora shouting responses anytime the show called for crowd interactions.

Beyond excited to see Minnie.

After the show we met some friends for supper at Pizza Luce.  We had never been before, and will definitely be repeat visitors!  I may be dreaming of the mashed potato pizza until then.
Double trouble.

The evening ended with another new experience.  The first time one of our kids got sick in the car.  Beau came down with a tummy bug that made the ride home all the more interesting.  I was grateful to have a shopping bag at my feet that I was able to dump and get back to him in time.  Luckily this all took place shortly after we got on the road so we were able to pull in to a Wal-Mart for a bucket, change of clothes, and Febreeze (lots of Febreeze).

Never a dull moment  :).

Around here.....

Here's just a little snapshot of what life looks like right now. Around here we're starting to get into the basketball season.  Both Beau and Cora are participating in traveling basketball through SYBA.  The crazy weekends of tournaments haven't started yet, but they're both having practice regularly.  Luke will be the assistant coach to Cora's team this year.  Sylvie will get to play too, but her season won't start until January and is one game on Saturday mornings in town. Around here are three kids are going to religion class on Wednesday nights, I'm teaching Cora's 3rd grade class.  Between that and basketball practice it's rare to have a weeknight where we are all home. Around here we're getting excited for the holidays!  I'm starting in on some shopping, planning and thinking about getting the house decorated.  The kids are getting Christmas lists made, and my desk is full of December Daily prep work.  Around here I...

WITL Day 5 - Friday

Friday began, as predicted, with a steady soaking rain and I was glad I switched my run to yesterday.  At 5am Georgia decided I've hit the snooze button enough, puts her paws up on the bed and licks my hands until I get up.  She didn't get the same glad feeling about not getting to head out on a run, and lay pouting by the front door. I fill her food bowl while the coffee brews, and she decides that if we can't run she'll ask to be repeatedly let in and out instead.  The result was lots of muddy paw drying. Around 6 Luke leaves for work and Georgia settles down.  The house is finally quiet and still and I'm thankful for the few minutes of peace. It's daycare appreciation day, and this year I am showered with gifts from my families.  It definitely adds a boost to the otherwise dreary and slow start to the day.  As the kids are packing their bags for school I find that some homework has been neglected throughout the week.  I'm ...

Not The Only One

Another Halloween has come and gone.  This year we had a dinosaur, vampire, and Snow White (returning for the second year in a row).   Holidays like this are always such a stark reminder of just how not babies my babies are.  Once again I just wasn't in the Halloween spirit this year.  We didn't even go to a pumpkin patch or apple orchard.  The few free hours we had were cold and rainy and the kids weren't in to it.  I definitely wasn't into it. This year, as if I needed more of a reminder of how fast my kids' childhood is slipping away, the social media trend seemed to be "Halloween from years gone by".  Everyone, at least in my "friend" feed was posting year to year Halloween pictures of their kids.   As I was busy liking and loving everyone's past Halloweens I came across a post that stopped me in my tracks.  In her post she stated that she felt like the Scrooge of Halloween and that what was once fun now felt like ...
