CAUTION: This post contains much talk of bodily fluids :) Beau had another great day at swimming lessons yesterday. It was pretty chilly and rainy, but he didn't seem to mind. He was under the water as much as he was above it. Dunking his head is his new favorite thing to to. He even opens his eyes under water because shortly after he got in he shouts over to me "Mom, I can see everyone's feet!!" They played "treasure hunting" and had to pick up dive sticks. He loved it, but he is definitely one of the shortest kids in his class and can barely even touch where they do lessons. He tried and tried to get those dive sticks and would be swimming under the water for quite awhile. Eventually he went over and got some in the slightly shallower water and left the deep ones for the kids who could just bend over and pick them up. In other news...Cora went pee on the potty last night!!! I was cleaning out under our stairs yesterday to try and find our little frog pot...

Just Keep Swimming...

Beau had his first swimming lessons today. He did SO well!! I was amazed watching him. I made sure to sit way back where it would be hard for him to see me. I knew if I didn't there would be a lot of "hey mom watch this" "mom look at me" etc....fine for me but not so great for his teacher!! He got right in and did everything the teacher asked. His face went in the water right away. He even put his whole head WAY under water. I was a little nervous because I thought if he got upset that would be it for today if not the whole swimming lesson experience. But he came up laughing and did it again and again. The only complaint he had was that they didn't get to swim very long. I think we're going to head back after nap for a little more swimming and then on to t-ball tonight.

Our Miss Cora is 5 Months Today

At 5 months you..... Laugh...you've been laughing when we tickle you for awhile, but now you've started laughing when we make silly faces or noises at you Roll over both ways Can't sit by yourself yet, but can balance for a few second before toppling over Scoot around in a circle, but can't get yourself to move forward after something you want Have been trying cereal at night, but are still working on figuring out how to swallow it. Bedtime is anywhere between 7 and 8 depending on whether you took a late afternoon nap or not, you sleep through the night most nights. Grab at anything and everything you can get your hands on (your favorites are the remote and phones though). You are also starting to protest when we take something away or don't give you something you're after! Have started copying noises and facial expressions that we make Still LOVE your big brother and your eyes rarely look away from him when he is in the room (he loves you too and gives you you...

Roll Over!

Our little sleeping beauty is all tuckered out from ROLLING OVER today! She's been rolling up on to her side for weeks, but never quite made it all the way over...until today!!! Beau and I went to sign up for swimming lessons and to the library and she was rolling over for Luke the whole time we were gone. Yeah Cora Mae!

Where does the time go?

Well, Cora turned 3 months last week. It's crazy to look back on my last post to see how much she has grown and changed since then. I can't believe how fast the time has flown by. She is doing well, and Beau still adores her. She is sleeping through the night (LUCKY US), jabbering up a storm, and trying her hardest to do that first roll over. She gets up onto her side with her leg kicked over, but can't quite make it the rest of the way. She sure grunts and hollers working at it though. I've been back to work for almost a month and half now and it has gone much better than I expected. Cora has adapted well, and Beau is so much happier and better behaved with his friends here to play with...he was WAY too bored being home with just Cora and me. I'm so glad spring is finally here and we can all get outside. We spent the day yesterday picking out plants to replace the ones that I killed off last year, and then went to the park for a picnic and a hike. Beau had a blast ...
This picture about sums it up....we are ready for nice weather so we can be outside!!! Enough rain, snow, and cold...bring on the sun and the 60 degree temps we had last weekend! Here are some pictures from our adventure to the park last weekend. Beau update: teeth, teeth, teeth! He has 2 new ones poking through on the top. There may be a third, but when I stick my fingers in his mouth to check he tends to bite....I tell him "no biting" but I have to say if someone were sticking their fingers in my mouth I would probably bite too.

New Reality

This has become our reality. Beau has been pulling up on things for a couple weeks now, but he always had to be in the perfect position, with something to grab that he could get his whole hand around. Not anymore! He now can pull up on anything and it is all he wants to do. No toy is good enough unless he can be standing up to play with it. He can even walk his hands up the fridge to stand up (he especially likes this because he can see his reflection in the fridge...2 favorites...can't get much better than that!) Unfortunately all this pulling up has meant he got his first bumps and bruises on his head. He tries to pull himself to standing in his crib, but I think the gaps between the bars trip him up causing a blood curdling scream to emerge from his room. Here is a picture of the bruise he got on his eyebrow. (yeah, yeah I know it is tiny, and you can barely see it, but hey it was traumatic for us!). P.S. Just so everyone is not thinking I let my kid stare at a TV screen ...

And We're Off!

I am sorry to report that I did NOT win the HGTV dream home. They surprised the winner last night on live TV. (She was from Iowa, but not very excited if you ask me.) I spent the evening peeking out the windows and jumping at every car door I heard, wondering if just maybe it might be the dream home crew ready to ambush me with balloons and a multi million dollar house. I kind of felt like a little kid waiting for Santa Clause. Oh well, there is always next year!! Beau is officially crawling on his hands and knees. He started last Friday night. He was playing on the floor and all of a sudden was taking off on all fours. It looked completely effortless, like he had been doing it all along. Luke and I were both left with our mouths hanging wide open. We knew it was coming soon, but I expected something a little more gradual. One day he was dragging himself around on his belly, barely ever even getting up on all fours, and the next he is crawling around the house like a wild man! I am al...

GRRRRR...

Beau liked the bull dog on his shirt so much that he decided he would try to look like him. He did a pretty good job, huh? Actually he just got another tooth that poked through this weekend so he has been feeling it with his tounge and making all sorts of funny faces ever since. Beau also pulled himself up for the first time yesterday. We had him sitting in the laundry basket while we were folding laundry, when Luke goes..."look what he just did!" I look up, and sure enough he was standing straight as an arrow with his hands holding onto the laundry basket. I tried to get a picture, but of course as soon as the camera came out he was to busy hamming it up to do doing anything like pulling himself up.
